Primary Care
Primary Care is the back bone to the healthcare system. Typically the medical provider acts as the first contact and takes continuing responsibility for providing the patient’s comprehensive care. Primary Care clinicians will perform annual physical exams, and diagnosis treat most illnesses and diseases. Their specialties can include Internal Medicine, Adolescent Medicine, Family Practice, Geriatric Medicine and Preventative Care.
The goal of a Primary Care provider is to
- Establish an individual relationship with each patient
- Assesss their healthcare needs and risk factors
- Screenings and counseling to prevent and detect illnesses and diseases
- Diagnosis and treatment of many different health problems
- Referring and coordinating with other medical specialists to address health concerns and issues
